‘Shoes For Shelters’
By: Elsa P.

5L's service learning project, ‘Shoes For Shelters’, is taking off. They are collecting shoes in the boxes outside of the 5th grade classrooms. The shoes will then be donated to the animal shelter. The animal shelter then gets money for the shoes. Many shoes have been brought in to support the animal shelter. They have already obtained 338 shoes.  They have raised the goal to 400 shoes. Every pair of shoes helps them reach their goal. Remember to bring in your shoes and help 5L reach their goal!

The 5th grade girls soccer team season is starting again, and they are very excited to be on the field again. Their  coaches this season are  Rob, Kevin, and Brenda.

Box Tops
By: Maddie B.

On March 27, 2015, we had a monthly assembly and we really hit it off with Box Tops. Now, we have a new goal for Box Tops, because we met our old goal. Our new goal is one thousand five hundred dollars, while originally it was just one thousand dollars. Mr. Davis challenged the school to try to beat him in Box Tops. He told the students that he could collect the most Box Tops, and the reward for whoever wins is Bomb Pops.

‘McFarland, USA’
By: Zena A.

Focused in 1987, formed by a true story. It is a movie that is 2 hours and 8 minutes long. Though rated PG there is some rough language (bad words). It is a sports drama movie. Also, the movie is predictable. Why else would they make it a movie? I would rate it four stars out of ten.

Shellsburg Star
By Miss Brunssen & Mrs. Lorenzen

Tess Lillibridge is a Shellsburg Star because she works hard to challenge herself in and out of the classroom. She has set a new record for Shellsburg Elementary School in the Accelerated Reader Program. In just one short month, she has earned 125.4 AR points! That is a total of 832,681 words that she has read in one month! We are impressed by her motivation and love for reading. Way to go, Tess!

The PS Brothers                                              By:Morgan Roy

I would rate this book ten stars because it tells about how two best friends, Shawn and Russell, earn money so they can get a dog they want. The boys worked together as a team to get enough money for the dog by scooping dog poop.

“A to Z Mysteries”
‘A to Z Mysteries’
By: Renee G.
I’ve read so many A to Z Mystery books. I recommend to read them because they are really awesome. It is a mystery series, and whenever you have something mysterious you can take the mystery A to Z book steps series. When you come across something very mysterious, like you can think ‘What is that blob or thing doing down there?’ I rate it the best mystery series in the whole entire world!

Assembly
By: Jaden R.

On March 27, 2015 we had our monthly assembly and during it we did many different activities, like Shellsburg Spirit winners, Veteran's Day entry winners, attendance winners, and we also watched the teachers have an Easter egg hunt. One Veterans Day winner won a blanket with his entry printed on it, and a plaque. The winner’s name  is Clayton Johnson.

From the new movie “Cinderella”

‘Cinderella’
By: Kaelynn P.

I really like the movie ‘Cinderella’ because it gives you a background of her life. In the beginning of the movie her stepmother gets jealous of her real mother because Cinderella is always thinking about her and talking about her too. Cinderella’s real name is Ella, and she gets the name Cinderella by falling asleep by the fireplace, and when she wakes up, she is covered in cinder, so her step sisters start calling her Cinderella. The thing I like most about this movie  is how all the animal characters look when they get turned into different things like the carriage driver and the horses. I give this movie 10 stars out of 10, because this movie is great for both boys and girls.
