3D Printer By: Elsa P. Have you heard that the school got a 3D printer? Do you have a lot of questions about it? In a recent interview with Mrs. Gates I’ve attempted to learn a little bit more about the 3D printer. The 3D printer got here on April 8th. When asked whose idea it was to get a 3D printer, Mrs. Gates replied that it was hers, Mr. Davis’s, and the PTO’s. The 3D printer seemed like a necessary thing to have so that the school can do more new things with technology and create what they imagine right away. The 3D printer can do some pretty cool things. It can create almost anything you can imagine. The school has already printed a couple things with the printer such as a small traffic cone, a 3D dinosaur puzzle, and are in the middle of printing a holder for some of the plastic. This could really improve the way children learn at shellsburg elementary. ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ By: Renee G. I have read all of the Diary Of A Wimpy Kid series.  It is a really funny book, here are the characters of the Diary Of A Wimpy Kid.  Characters are Rodrick Heffley, Greg Heffley, Rowley Jefferson, Patty Ferrell, Frank Heffley, Manny Heffley, Chirag Gupta, Susan Heffley, Gammie, Mrs Canfield, Mr Jefferson, and Fregley who is digging for “gold”. Jeff Kinney who is writing the story is Greg Heffley.  Everything that happens to them is a little funny.  Like the book “Long Haul”  is that they take trips around the state.  One time Greg sleeps in the closet and smells something really weird.  He finds out that it is his brother’s sock that is being smelly.  Another time was that Greg loses the key to the water park and they can’t find it to open Frank’s swimming locker.  They try to find the key but Greg finds it in one of the pockets.  He thought that if he flushed the key to the swimming locker they could forget about it and Rodrick could be in huge trouble.  I give this book ten out of ten stars.  They are fifth grade level reading books. It is going to be a blend of sunshine and clouds. The 22nd of April is going to have a high of 61 and a low of 38. It is going to be very sunny. The 23rd of April is going to have a high of 62 and a low of 40. It is going to be very cloudy. The 24th of April is going to have a high of 54 and a low of 42. It is going to be very very cloudy with some showers. The 25th of April is going to have a high of fifty-five and a low of 35. There is going to be some morning showers. The twenty-sixth is going to be a little cooler with a high of fifty-six and a low of thirty-three. It is going to be mostly cloudy. The 27th is going to have a high of 55 and a low of 33. It is going to cloudy with some showers. The 28th is going to be cloudy with a high of 56 and a low of 41.

Track Meet By: Leah H. This years track meet is the Local Live Healthy Iowa Kids Track Meet (replacement of the Hershey Track Meet). On Saturday, May 9. You can enter if you are fifth-fourteenth years of age. The five,six,seven, and eight year old will not advance to state. The nine-fourteen year olds will advance to state if you get first in your race. The field events you can do are the  standing long jump and the softball throw. The five-ten year olds can do the fifty meter dash. The five-fourteen year olds can do the one hundred meter dash. The seven-fourteen year olds can do the two hundred meter dash. The nine-twelve year olds can do the four hundred meter dash. The eleven-fourteen year olds can do the eight hundred meter dash. The thirteen-fourteen year olds can do the mile run. Then the nine-fourteen year olds can do the four-by-one relay. ‘Oz The Great And Powerful’ By: Zena A. Oz The Great And Powerful is a movie that helps you to know how Wizard of Oz started. When you watch Oz the Great and Powerful you can make connections to the Wizard of Oz. When I was watching Oz the Great and Powerful the moment when "wizard" help the little China girl (doll) when she was crying and not too long after it she was determined to go with the wizard. I would rate it seven out of ten stars. I like the movie and would watch it any time also, the movie is magical and inspiring at any age. Weather Around the World By Megan H. Terriffic Teacher By Zoe M., Kinzzy M., and Miles E. The terrific teacher this month is Charlene, the librarian associate. She has been here for eleven years. Charlene has always helped out anyone that needs help and she always makes the library fun and safe. She is also very responsible. She is always calm with us and very patient. Look for the next  edition of Shellsburg Shockers on May 4th! Jump Rope For Heart By: Jaden R. and Leah H. Jump Rope for Heart started at the beginning of April.The meaning of Jump Rope for Heart is for people who have disabilities with their hearts or just heart issues. What you do is go around your community and ask for donations. It depends on how much money you earn to determine how many different prizes you get. Then each class, third through fifth put together a jump rope routine to a song of their choice. Then on April tenth, each class presented their routine at the assembly.Then the teachers had a jump rope contest Mrs. Franks won. I like how Daniel Hughes played the part of Meghan Trainor in Mrs. Franks routine. In life, there is never a dull moment…. when you have a sharp pencil. - Caroline Erickson Advice By: Seven B Here are a few questions I have answered: What will 5th grade be like? 5th grade is normally fun no matter what, but that depends on how you act. You’ll have fun if you listen to what your teacher says. What will fourth grade be like? Fourth grade will be fun and If you don’t get yourself into trouble you’ll have a better year. What will we learn in 4th grade? You will learn many new things in 4th grade. Some might be in math, others might be in reading. But that depends on what you know. Remember you might get taught what you already know. Add more advice in the box and it will show up in the newspaper.
